At Abode Care Homes we know that often the thought of moving into residential care can often be very traumatic for both residents and relatives but that it is frequently the only option available in order to maintain personal safety, security and provide appropriate levels of care.
Our philosophy is simple; each of our residents is respected as a unique individual and the care they receive is tailored around their individual needs and preferences. We want all of our residents to make our home their home and as such we have very few rules. Residents are free to personalise their own rooms and we can also accommodate some pets at the discretion of the home manager.
We take great care to respect a person’s life history, likes, dislikes and, of course, their medical history which enables us to develop an individual profile and plan of care, actively encouraging them to make their own choices and lead an active lifestyle.
From the very beginning of our relationship with a resident, a two-way discussion is established, ensuring that the services provided enhance the resident’s quality of life and meet the expectations of both residents and relatives alike.
At Abode Care Homes we appreciate that as a relative you have a tough decision to make in choosing long term residential or day care, however, it is often the only option to maintain personal safety, security and provide appropriate levels of care. You need to have peace of mind that you can maintain close relations with your loved ones and it is equally as important that our residents feel the same too.
We recognise that relatives and friends are all part of the resident’s rich social network and actively encourage them to visit the homes at any time, without restrictions. We are happy to accommodate relatives at meal times for a small charge. We want relatives to feel as much a part of the home as our residents and we hold regular meetings for both residents and relatives to discuss the general aspects of the care that we provide. We welcome constructive feedback to help us improve the service that we deliver. A regular newsletter helps keep relatives up to date with events in the homes.
